Analyzing the essential elements of well-being of the inhabitants of rural spaces is an unprecedented way to understand the attractiveness of these areas, in a context where we are more interested in determining their fractures facing metropolises. This paper aims to study the socio-spatial dimensions of the collective construction of well-being in three isolated rural areas of the Rhône-Alpes region in France (Drôme and Ardèche) using a participatory mapping tool, Escapat. The results show logics of accumulation of the preferential well-being elements as well as the significance of the public service availability. The diagnosis carried out by the inhabitants highlights the living environment as a driving force of well-being and the isolation of rural spaces as a weakness. The use of the mapping tool Escapat can help to implement territorial governance and also bring some new questions for the research and for territorial foresight.

Dans une actualité où l'on s'attache davantage à déterminer les fractures face aux métropoles que les potentiels d'attractivité des espaces ruraux, analyser les éléments essentiels aux habitants d'une commune rurale constitue une manière inédite de comprendre ce qui fait l'attractivité de ces territoires. Ce papier a pour objectif d'analyser les dimensions socio-spatiales de la construction collective du bien-être dans trois espaces ruraux isolés de Rhône-Alpes, dans la Drôme et en Ardèche, en mobilisant un outil de cartographie participative, ESCAPAT. Les résultats montrent des logiques d'accumulation des éléments préférentiels de bien-être ainsi que l'importance de la disponibilité et du nombre de services de la vie courante. Le diagnostic du territoire effectué par les habitants met en évidence le cadre de vie comme un élément moteur de bien-être et l'enclavement des espaces ruraux isolés comme une faiblesse. L'utilisation de l'outil de cartographie 2D ESCAPAT peut ainsi aider à la mise en oeuvre de la gouvernance territoriale et amène de nouvelles questions en matière de recherche et en termes de prospective territoriale.
